We can do that!
It's amazing what can be accomplished when we put our heads together. Now let's get to work.
We thrive on moving the needle, making progress, exceeding goals and shattering expectations.
Case in point. When GCI entered the Internet business, ACS and a few other providers had the market locked. We knew we needed to make a huge splash to capture new customers and lure customers who had already signed up with other companies.
With GCI’s marketing department, we came up with the Free Unlimited Internet package, which bundled dial-up service with a $10 long distance package. We launched with an aggressive media campaign, including full-page newspaper ads four to five times per week, 350 GRPs per week of radio, and 400 GRPs of television per week in major markets. The launch weight lasted for four months, then reduced to lower, though still aggressive, maintenance levels.
The result of our efforts? GCI had surpassed all local competitors within a year to become Alaska’s largest Internet service provider. FreeNet established GCI as the leader in Alaskan Internet, and the rest is as they say, history.
